80th Independence Day Celebrations
Bengaluru, August 15:

On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar, Commissioner, Bengaluru North City Corporation, hoisted the National Flag at the Commissioner’s Office premises in Byatarayanapura.

Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said that serving the public is the responsibility of every officer and staff member of the Corporation. He emphasised that no public service can be effectively delivered without earning the trust of citizens. He urged officials and staff to respond promptly to public concerns and discharge their responsibilities with dedication, honesty and sincerity to ensure better services for citizens.

Recalling the sacrifices made by freedom fighters who fought for the country’s independence, he said that citizens today must look beyond their individual and family interests and recognise their responsibility towards nation-building.

“Everyone has a role to play in building the nation. When we perform our duties honestly and responsibly, the direct benefit reaches the public,” the Commissioner said.

Highlighting the participation of schoolchildren in the Independence Day celebrations, he said that children also help create awareness within their families about civic responsibility and duties towards the nation. As the future citizens of the country, it is important to nurture a strong sense of civic responsibility among them.

The programme was attended by Smt. Pallavi, Additional Commissioner (Revenue In-charge) & Joint Commissioner; Shri Mohammed Naeem Momin, Joint Commissioner; Shri Somashekar, Deputy Commissioner; Chief Engineers; and other officers and staff of the Corporation. Students from a Government Primary School in Byatarayanapura also participated in the programme.

Flag Hoisting at Zone-2 Office

The 80th Independence Day was also commemorated at the Bengaluru North City Corporation’s Zone-2 Office, where the National Flag was hoisted in the presence of Smt. Pallavi, Additional Commissioner (Revenue In-charge) & Joint Commissioner. Officials, staff and pourakarmikas of the Corporation participated in the programme.
