UB100 Special Cleanliness Campaign Achieves 150th Garbage Blackspot Elimination

The Bengaluru North City Corporation, under the leadership of Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar, Commissioner, Bengaluru North City Corporation, has successfully completed the elimination and beautification of the 150th garbage blackspot under the UB100 Special Cleanliness Campaign.

Launched on World Environment Day on June 5, the UB100 campaign was undertaken with the objective of eliminating garbage blackspots across the Bengaluru North City Corporation limits and transforming public spaces into clean, well-maintained and public-friendly areas. With the completion of the 150th blackspot, the campaign has achieved its targeted milestone.

150th Garbage Blackspot Transformed

Location: Opposite Parachute Regiment Training Centre, R.T. Nagar, Hebbal, Bengaluru

The garbage blackspot at the location was completely cleared and the area was subsequently beautified, creating a cleaner and more welcoming public space.

The transformation has involved coordinated efforts towards waste clearance, roadside cleanliness, footpath improvement, streetlight maintenance, wall beautification, greening and other measures to improve the surrounding public space.

Community and Army Participation

The 150th blackspot clearance and beautification programme also witnessed active participation from the community and the armed forces.

As part of the programme, Deputy Commandant, Officers and troops of Parachute Regiment Training Centre and 30 NCC students from Army Public School participated in the activities, contributing to the cleanliness and beautification efforts.

Public Participation Key to Sustainable Change

The Bengaluru North City Corporation has acknowledged the contribution of local residents, organisations, volunteers, NCC students, Army personnel and various departments whose cooperation has supported the UB100 campaign.

The Corporation has appealed to citizens to support the sustained success of the campaign by avoiding littering, segregating waste at source and helping maintain the cleanliness of public spaces after their transformation.

The Bengaluru North City Corporation will continue its efforts to prevent the recurrence of garbage blackspots and promote cleaner, better-maintained public spaces across its jurisdiction.

On the occasion, Smt. Pallavi, Additional Commissioner (Revenue In-charge) & Joint Commissioner; Shri Mohammed Naeem Momin, Joint Commissioner; personnel from the Parachute Regiment; DGM Rashmi; Arun Pai, Brand Ambassador, Volunteers from Ugly Indians NGO; along with various Corporation staff, members of the public and police department officials were present.
